I'm as busy as ever and a lot has happened especially in the teatrical front with completion of the epic cinematic-live theater production of Trópico Macbeth -Part One: The Rise To Power. See the video postings of this production on my YouTube channel: John Rivera-Resto. I will dedicate the winter of 2024-25 to update the posts on this website. -jrr January 2023I apologize for the slow progress in finishing new entries in Muralmaster. My plate has been so full with new work and personal projects that I can barely keep up. But little by little I'll get there. Promise. I wish you a wonderful New Year, full of health and blessings, and may these lines find you well. -jrr November 2022I began the year in pre-production for my theatrical adaptation of "Tiempo Muerto" -Dead Time, a masterpiece by Manual Méndez Ballester set in 1934 Puerto Rico, presented at the Latinus Theater Company in Cleveland, Ohio. The play opened in April to rave reviews and ran until the beginning of May. In addition, I also did production design (sets and props) for another fantastic production of "La Siempreviva", by Colombian playwright Miguel Torres, completed two mural projects, produced plans and designs for a Beauty Salon and Spa, in Puerto Rico, I'm also working on digital set designs for two Christmas plays at the LatinUs Theater, and completed writing the script for "Trópico Macbeth", (an English and a Spanish version) of an epic original work based on Shakespeare's tragedy of Macbeth, set in 1935, and scheduled for presentation on the fall of 2023. -jrr March 20212021 has been a very busy and productive year. The murals at the children's section of the Lakewood New Life Church were created; the lobby floor mural, live-edge faux doors and additional decor for the LatinUs Theater in Cleveland, Ohio were completed. I also designed, adapted and directed a full-cast production of the Spanish classic -The House of Bernarda Alba. Work produced for this project included: production design and construction of sets, costumes, projection art, digital paintings, filming video and photographic elements, sound and graphic design, as well as the creation of a great variety of props. Presently designing artwork and decor for a nightclub and restaurant in Columbus, Ohio USA (scheduled to open in 2022). On my spare time, I work at writing a trilogy of plays I intend to produce in the near future. -jrr December 2020Due to the COVID pandemic, all contracts were cancelled. Among these were a mural project, a theater play, a nightclub design contract, and an educational multimedia production. So, I used the time working on redesigning and updating the muralmaster website and redecorating my home. -jrr December 2019I took a year off from painting and returned to the theater in a big way -as an actor, designer, and director, performing the role of Dr. Roberto Miranda in "La muerte y la doncella (Death and the Maiden)", by Ariel Dorfman, and crafting and directing the comedy "El insólito caso de Miss Piña Colada (The unusual case of Miss Piña Colada)", by Carlos Ferrari. With Miss Piña Colada I made my directorial debut at the Helen Theater in Cleveland's Playhouse Square. -jrr March 2019The Muralmaster Website is being completely redone and optimized to HTML5!
